The Frustration of Pointless Presentations

One of the great frustrations in business is the "pointless presentation," retreat, or development session.

Just last week, someone shared how her organisation brought the whole staff together at great expense, only for everyone to feel they’d just been “PD’d” (now a curse word).

The problem? No results. People talk, but there's no change, no progress, no practical application.

A colleague told me about his brother in the UAE. His clients paid tens of thousands for a US speaker and were thrilled.

"That sounds excellent. What did she tell you that was helpful?"

They couldn't give an answer, except "Well, she was very engaging."

"What did you take away from the presentation that you applied?"

They couldn't recall, but said "She was very enthusiastic".

He asked, "What changed or improved as a result?"

All they could do was look embarrassed and shrug.

We’ve all experienced that. You just want your time back or even a moment at the café to actually refresh.

But...

  • You're under pressure.

  • You're trying to transform leadership culture, performance, innovation and strategy in your business, to create a "Yes!" that leads to real success.

  • You know you need to do something else - to bring in expertise to help - but you want results, not pat recipes.

I get it. I’ve been there.

But let’s be honest: it’s pointless to complain or, worse, to ask ChatGPT to work it out for you! If you can find a solution, you should go after it. One of the great failings of so many leaders is thinking that they are the source of all wisdom and action. No, you're the one who is meant to take advantage of great opportunities to deliver solutions.

That’s where I come in. I have solutions drawn from plain, effective principles that work in real life.

My “Lead With CLARITY” Keynotes are part of that solution: grounded in real life, cutting through the chaos and confusion so you can navigate out of the fog to lead with clarity, power, and precision—at every level.

Of course, not every problem needs a hammer. That’s why my keynotes are just one tool. Consulting, coaching, advisory, resources, boards, fractional work—there are many paths to real achievement.

HERE'S MY OFFER:

Contact me for a no-obligation, 20-minute sounding board session. I’ll help you gain clarity on your key challenges and practical ways to achieve dramatic results.
