It's Easy To Criticise...

It's easy to criticise the leader or senior leader - until you're the one in that position.

Then suddenly you realise all of the pressures that were on them in the past.

But that doesn't excuse the previous leader from having been rotten or managing poorly. Nor does it excuse you.

It's a challenge to you: How will you proceed? Will you adopt the same manner and problems or will you change direction and do things differently?

You will make mistakes. That comes with the territory called life. If you've "never made a mistake", you've already made the mistake of not doing something else you should have but didn't because you were playing it safe. Think of all those faceless bureaucrats who have "never made a mistake" in their paperwork but have never done anything meaningful for anyone at any time.

What you don't have to be is an awful "leader". You can choose which direction to take.

And you will need help to be the best in that way. We all do. So never think that approaching leadership means you have to "go it alone". That's a sure path to an ulcer and wrecked relationships.

As I say in my Lead With CLARITY Keynotes and my coaching, you need to "Aim Higher Together" to overcome all of those pressures those leaders faced and achieve results that everyone is proud of.

If you or your team are facing pressures and you want to talk with someone who will lift performance and lift the room, contact Peter McLean for a Confidential Sounding Board discussion now.
